A Tim Technique and Trash to Treasure

A Tim Technique and Trash to Treasure

I found it!  I found this great site Studio L3  which provides a weekly Challenge based upon Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Volume II.  Each week they explore a new technique from the book. Fortunately for me there was a video provided by Tim reviewing his Kraft Resist techniques (pg 41)  because my signed , (yes I did say signed and by Tim Holtz himself), copy of  COC,VII, is um, not missing but rather "misplaced", yeah that sounds better than missing!  Anyhow if you want to learn all about how to use this great Kraft Resist paper with all your gorgeous Distress Inks, stains and Markers then just check this video out:

Here's a link to his Blog post, it will inform you a plenty about this groovy technique!

So here's what I did:

As You can see I kinda got really into the "Color Purple", I'm sorry I just could not resist!  I started with the Picket Fence stain, because I really wanted to see the purple shades more clearly than darkened by the Kraft.  I followed with Milled Lavender stain.  I stamped the perfume bottles (A Stampendous stamp) with Dusty Concord and outlined them with some very nice artist grade colored pencils I have, this one was a bit on the blue side.  I then stamped the LOVE image, which is one of Tim's with Black Versafine ink.  I of course wiped off the ink from the "resist areas" and I like how there is that rather visable Capital lettering that goes across the middle of the image.  I then decided to use glossy accents over the LOVE sentiment, to kinda repeat that shininess.

Some Summer Distress in Mowed Lawn (love that color!) was used in the middle of the background on the black and white damask paper and the edges were blended with Milled Lavender (As a side note, Milled Lavender was the very LAST color I needed to complete my entire collection of the original Distress Line!!!!)  I don't have last years Fall line, but will grab it up if I find it for the right price!
I topped it off with the edge of a doily that I grunged up, some butterfly tissue tape, a rose distressed with the Milled Lavender, the purple scrunchy ribbon and a crown which replicated the image of the bottle stamp.

I am submitting this into the following Challenges:

StudioL3 - Compendium of Curiosity's Challenge #19
Make it Monday - Anything goes
CityCrafter - Monochromatic (lots of purple)
Vintage Elusions - Challenge 5 - Distressing/Anything Goes

One last goodie I want to share, its an little altered project I was inspired by my friends at Your Paper Pantry.  They are a great group of artists and friends who I swap with!  Come join us if you are looking for unique challenges with no drama and lots of creativity and generosity!  Anyways there was a swap going on that I did not join but was inspired to try out, it is to turn wine corks into pretty keychains or whatever else you want to dangle it onto!

Here's a way to enjoy your wine, even after it's all gone!
Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment and if you have read this far, won't you be so kind as to become a follower of my blog???  I love to make new friends :)

Blessings,

Adrienne
