Pencil Jar - Hiding In My Craft Room

Hey friends, I've been so busy with VBS (Vacation Bible School) I feel like I've been out of touch this week with my blog, my craft table and all my creative friends so Hello and I'm so happy to be back!  It's been a great week and I'm fortunate that I made this crafty project before the crazy busy week began!    So, this week at Hiding In My Craft Room our theme is Free Style, aka Anything Goes!

About a month ago I saw this idea in blog land and my apologies to the brilliant lady who thought of it!  It's a pencil/art supplies/ flower holder-vase and its super simple to make!

So you can use a mason jar or a cleaned out pickle jar, wipe or brush stroke on some gesso to the outside.  It dries pretty quickly but I let it set for a few hours then came back to it.  I then took my Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Vintage Things stamp set, applied Staz-On ink in black, and used the stamp without a block to wrap the stamp around the curve of the jar to create my image.  It's not perfect but my daughter thinks it looks mor vintage like in its imperfection, I'll go with that!  I also used the Tim Holtz SA Vintage label stamp with Red Archival ink for that image.

That's it, easy peasy and so cute! I will be putting this on my desk in my officer.

I will be entering this into the following challenges: - Anything Goes with a inspiring sentiment

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my art!

Farewell Luca - Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Side Step Card -

Well they say all good things must come to an end, and so it is with our brief stint of hosting our Foreign Exchange Student, Luca.  He has become a very special member of our family, this sweet Italian young man, and we will miss him dearly.   I made him this card as a farewell and to let him know that he will always have a place in our hearts and our family!

This week at Tanmy's Scrapin Corner we are challenging you all to make a side step card.  They really are very easy to create and there are lots of great tutorials out there, just type Side Step Card tutorial into your favorite search engine and you will find lots of different variations.  Be sure to enter your creation  here to have a chance at winning a prize from one of two Digi Companies which I showcased both of in my card; Bugaboo Stamps  and SK Digi's.

SK Digi - Fireworks

SK Digi Mushroom Forever Family Sentiment

Bugaboo Stamps - USA

So if you are wondering why Luca Crist, it's a family joke, when we took Luca to Universal Studios we had purchased a two day pass for him, they asked for all the names of our family members and of course we stated Luca's name too.  When the pass was given to us it named him as Luca Crist.  We all laughed and joked that it was official, he was a Crist now!  He took it all in his usual calm and sweet way, the kids loved it!

The bandana paper is from Authentique, I colored the images with my Copic Markers, the letter stickers are from Tim Holtz and I added some additional stars with a stamp from my stash.  I also used Stickles to add the glittery touches.

I will be entering this into the following challenges: - red, white and blue

Hiding In My Craft Room - Weddings

Some DesIgn Team Challenge's could not be anymore timelier for me.  This week at Hiding In My Craft Room our theme is Weddings, a obvious choice for June.  Fortunaly I have the perfect couple to give my creation to.  One of my younger brothers, the youngest in fact, are getting married this August.

I began with a tag which I punched out with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz die, I used Cosmo Cricut paper.  I stamped it with a Donna Salazar rose stamp.  I then made a mask and used the outside portion of the mask, I guess that would be considered a stencil because I placed the mask (which I created out of a sticky note)' around my stamped image and the stamped the tag with a Music script Prima background stamp using Grey ink.   I did that so the rose would contain the music script stamp and a little boarder of sorts would then appear as a boarder of sorts.  After i embellished the tag I then created the card base.

I will be entering this into the following challenges: - Music theme and tag (tag on the card

Vacation in a jar

Ever want to take a piece of your vacation home with you?  I guess that's what souvenirs are for...this tag is like that for me.  I bought quite a few stamps home from my last trip to Hawaii.  They were made by a company in Oahu and when I got home I ordered quite a few more.  This little turtle scene being one of them.

I began with the canning jar stamp and built it from there.  I used the turtle scene, colored it with my Copics and then decided I needed a little more whimsy so I added the silhouette of the hula stamp!  Out came the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam Glaze (i love that stuff!)  and then I Mounted the jar onto a Tim Holtz die cut tag that was embossed with a Darice Bamboo embossing folder that had some Distress in Miwed Lawn accenting it.  Stamped it with Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Sentiment stamps (another new favorite goodie in my stash) and attached some paper lace from Memory Makers onto the bottom.  Topped the whole thing off with some ARTC threads and some beads, charms and a lone shell from my collection.

This is definitely a way to keep my Hawaii trip memory close at hand!

I will be entering this creation into the following challenges: - Here comes Summer - GDT - Challenge #120 - Refreshing Summer Challenge 57 Summer Theme

Chalkboard - Technique Time Tuesday

Hola!  I am so excited by this months challenge at Technique Time Tuesday, its Chalkboard.  Mynette put up a great Technique that does not require any special chalking supplies.  But, being the lazy hoarding rebel that I am I chose to just use my stash!  Still, its nice to know that there is a technique out there when the "easy" way out is unavailable.

A Pair of Pears

Tammy's Scrappin Corner - Extra Texture

Greetings!  This week at Tammy's Scrappin Corner we are featuring extra texture on our projects.  I came across a challenge at A Day For Daisies that I wanted to combine with our challenge this week, it's fruits or vegetables with some sort of food packaging.  A free Digi is being offered at ADFD, it's a pair of Pears.  Here's my creation, an altered paper mâché box.

I used some modeling paste applied onto a portion of a stencil which you can see on the photo up above on the right, that one has some stain in Distress Barn Door which was diluted with water and wiped off quickly.  There is more texture from the paste in the first photo showing the top of the box.  I mixed the paste with some Distress stain in Vintage Photo this allowed for only the paste to recieve the color and not affect the paper underneath.  I then smeared it on top of the stencil and lifted it up, voila, instant texture.
The gals over at A Day for Daisies wanted to see some food packaging, well since our Italian Foreign Exchange student has been here we have received several care packages from home!  On the right hand corner of both photos you can see some Italian writings, those are from a little paper tag attached to the pasta that was sent.  I also included the raffia ribbon on the top that I tied into a bow,  I also included a ribbon that was green, red and white (before I stained it) that ribbo n was attached to a big Italian salami his parents sent...Yum!  This little box will help bring back some memories of !ucas visit!
Here's the link to TSC show us your textured creations!  Here's the link for ADFD go pick up the sweet pear digi and go dig through
