Be a Clown

I made this little card with a desire to Watercolour.  I used my THoltz Distress Stains which I've squeezed onto his paint palette a few months ago.  The interesting thing that occurs with the stains is that the water content evaporates a bit but its super easy to fix, just mist over the entire pallet with a spray bottle to dilute the color, or just take advantage of the intensity.  Either way your water rush can also be used to dilute the color on your craft sheet, just have fun with it!

One tip, try working on Watercolor paper, you get the most beautiful results I think!

I will be entering this I to the following challenges:

Paper Piecing - Tammy's Scrappin Corner DT!

Hello friends!  I am very excited to post this next creation!  Why?  Because exactly one week ago I was asked (out of the blue). To join Tammy's Scrapin Corner Design Team!
I love surprises like that!
http://www.tammyscrapincorner.com/

So I would encourage you all to join us by participating in this weeks Challenge #51Paper Piecing.  All you need is some Design Papers, a rubber or digital stamp that has some fairly nice size spaces in the Image to fill in, your scissors, a glue stick and your sense of playfulness because paper piecing is tons of fun!

Here's some photos of my sample;

What made the paper piecing so much fun is the Design Paper used , my all time favorite Graphic45 Little Darlings is featured here.  The bacground embossing folder is from Darice.  I embellished with a Tim holtz adage ticket, prima lace, My Minds Eye buttons and some twine i inked with TH Distress Ink in Tea Dye.  she was colored in with my Copic Markers, im still pretty new with them so lots of learning ahead but im enjoying using them!  The image is a digi from Bugaboo Stamps... Our sponsor over at Tammy's Scrappin corner this week.  Check them out...their selection is
Gigantic!

OLLC Sparkle and Shine challenge

This fortnight at Ooh La La Creations our challenge is called Sparkle and Shine #124
We want to see projects with lots of sparkle and or shine!  You have two weeks to enter your creations and if you are a lucky winner you can recieve a CD full of some lovely images!  Some other noteworthy news at Ooh La La Creations is we are looking for a few Guest Designers.  If you would like to join us  for a couple month stint be sure to put GDT after your name on the Linky!

Onto my project;

My daughter asked me to make a Birthday card for her teacher this past week...one of those really crazy weeks had just passed us and we were busy getting ready for a camping trip!  So I decided upon a Tim Holtz Pillow Box.  This was a wonderfully simple and quick project to create.  I figured since I'm late with her card, she would probably appreciate a cup of Starbucks coffee! The pillow box is the perfect size to hold a gift card.

I just love this sweet illustration available on the Everyday Occasions CD!
!

Here's a photo with the top flaps open, revealing the doily accents I embellished with some Stickles!  I adore this Shiney and Sparkled ribbon I picked up at Michael's, itwas actually twice the thickness, but a pair of scissors cut that down in half and then it was the perfect width for the box.  I used a very sparkly pink glittered paper to cover the box followed by some Recollections Washi tape that's black and white.

Be sure to enter your card here;

And if you would like to be a short term Guest Designer don't forget to  add athe letters GDT after your name !

Be sure to stop by in a few days, I have a couple pieces of news I am really excited about!

Dreaming of Spring

This weeks Play Date Cafe Challenge is called "Longing for Spring" because the colors foreshadow Springtime.     The lovely shades of green, golden yellow and shades of Violet/Red are a wonderful example of split complimentary colors (opposites on the color wheel plus one color in between).

I combined these colors with A Blog Named Hero Challenge which calls for paper piecing, a stamping technique I love because I get to dig into my Paper stash, one of my favorite pastimes!

I used one of my favorite paper lines, My Minds Eye along with a Hero Arts stamp, andsome Tim Holtz products: On the Edge Distressed Doily die with the new Frosted Film, Distress stain in Metallic Bronze, his French handwriting stamp and a tab from the Tinytags die.

The kite needed a little softening so I added a vintage button and some twine, I left the ends of the bow a bit longer to convey more movement.  I've been studying card design theory lately and this project was a nice way for me to experiment with some of the ideas.   I am looking for some feedback .... What do you think about a Challenge blog based on card design theory?  Would you play along with that?  Tell me what you think in the comment section!

I will be entering this into the following challenges:

The Play Date Cafe - Longing for Spring PDCC167

A Blog Named Hero - Challenge #19 Snip and Stick

Thanks for stopping by, if you like what you see please join me and leave a comment, it's always nice to know I'm not just talking to myself like a crazy person out in the www!

Valentines TP Roll project

As Valentines day quickly approaches its time to make fun little gifts to give to loved ones...why not re-use something that fills up our trash cans rather quickly and re-purpose that trash into a tiny treasure?  Here is a quick tutorial on how to use toilet (or loo for my international friends) paper rolls into a sweet little holder for your Valentines Day treats. Note: I  Saw this on YouTube several times so I can't take the credit and don't know who to attribute it to.

This is also my Design team entry for this fortnight's challenge at Ooh La La Creations
"Love Story" challenge.

This little flower/treat holder is a little tribute to Paris "The City of Love"!

Here's some photos of "How To";

Start with your loo roll and cut your design paper or tissue paper or even pretty wrapping paper (whatever you fancy)  into a 4 1/2x 5 3/4 rectangle.  If you are using a pattern that moves in a certain direction keep in mind the 4 1/2 sides are verticle.

Apply adhesive to the backside, attach the end of your paper and roll it around the tube.
The seamed side will obviously become the back of the holder.

Crease the sides of the bottom of the roll.

Add some adhesive ir hot glue on the interior bottom of the tp roll.  I like the 1" thick Scor Tape since its easy to work with and very strong.  The faster the stick the better, unless you like standing around holding tp. Roll bottoms together....didn't think so ;)

After you remove the backing of the adhesive press the bottom edges together.

Punch holes on both sides of the top and string ribbon or just hot glue to the interior for thinner handles.

Finish handles and Voila!  Let the real fun begin!!!   You can fill the holder with candies or wrap your candies up in tule and set them inside for a more decorative look, all kinds of fun possibilities for this adorable project.

Here's another photo of my Ooh La La Creations DT inspiration
